Radios

At Bearclaw I had the opportunity to try out the new 9680SAME Motorola radios our squad bought, and I must say they worked very well.  I was able to keep contact with our XO Wildthing all day even though they were using a different Motorola and communicate with Zero and Spectre whenever I wanted using the twin to the one I carried.  At $62.00 for 2 of them it's a great deal.  This could be another option to the radio question.  I went with these radios after much research on the web and corresponding with several teams that use them including a few that used them while in the general position.  1 set of batteries using them all weekend is not bad either.  It really does not matter to me whether we go with the TriSquare of something like these but it's my opinion we need to choose somehting and begin working with them.  There is a skill to learn in using radios but it really does give you a great advantage.

TriSquare eXRS 300

Posted by Ghost on January 3, 2010 at 3:35 PM Comments comments (1)

I just recently obtained two TriSquare eXRS300 radios.  I bought a double pack and opened them up.  The package contained:

  • 2 TSX300 Radios
  • 1 Dual Desktop Charger
  • 2 NiMH Rechargeable
  • Battery Packs
  • AC Adapter
  • 2 VOX/PTT Headsets

Right away I charged the radios excited to see what they had to offer.  I read the manual and let the radios fully charge.  After I got them out of the charger and turned them on to test the transmissions one radio would not transmit.  I checked all the functions and features and nothing worked.  The second radio seemed to be working ok but I couldn't fully tell without a radio to transmit to.  I emailed TriSquare's service department and an hour later I got a reply stating there must be something wrong with the radio and to provide my address and they would send me another one.  I did just that, I sent them my shipping address and proof of purchase.  An hour after that email I got a reply that my replacement radio was in the mail.  To my surprise within 3 business days I had my replacement radio and let me tell you they work great!

Everything that the company says these radios will do, they do.  I haven't had a chance to test them in the field just yet but around the home they have worked beautifully.  Full text message support, private/group channels work great, and it is the same size as my motorolla talk-abouts so my radio pouch won't take a beating to get this new radio in it.  Once we get a chance to try them in the field I think we may need to pick some of these up for larger games to have secure communications.

BT TM15

Posted by Reaper on December 14, 2009 at 2:31 PM Comments comments (2)

THE BT TM15 is a impressive marker right out of the box with its light magnesium alloy body and full rail system to mount all your tactical goodies on, plus the quiteness of this gun is unreal.  The selecter switch seems solid and the modes are awsome like the ramping mode is very fast. Its also a accurate marker with dead on flip up sights and very well balanced.  The light wieght body is about the weight of a TM7 but metal and the clip holds a spare battery as well as a tool kit. I give this marker 4 stars, 4 because i havnt tested it out on the battlefield but if its as realiable as the TM7 it will definetly get 5 stars. a must buy for the milsim player.

Scenario Arms HPA Refill Hose

Posted by Grim Reapers Admin on May 17, 2009 at 2:51 PM Comments comments (2)

Scenario Arms has a great selection of X7 mods, however the one item we have used the most is the HPA Refill hoses.  These things are amazing!  The line runs from your refill nipple on your HPA tank to well, anywhere you want to feed the other end.  This product allows you to refill you tank without having a buddy take it off your vest or taking your vest off at all.  Some of our operators have used this product for months and haven't had any problems with it.  The hose also comes with several choices for covers including:

  • Marpat
  • Crye Multicam
  • ACU
  • 3 Color Desert
  • Cadpat
  • Woodland
  • Black

Scenario Arms also has a warranty on this product.  Great product well worth the $29.95 for the comfort, quality, and convenience.

Here is what our operators have to say about the product:

Tippmann X7

Posted by Grim Reapers Admin on May 1, 2009 at 6:22 PM Comments comments (0)

At least three of our operators actively use the Tippmann X7 marker.  This marker with it highly customizable and modular designs allows the user to pick from several different options to make your marker look the way you want it to look.  Tippmann makes several kits including the X36, M4, MP5SD, and AK47.  Plus the after market add ons and mods that can be done are amazing.  One of our sponsors (Scenario Arms) has plans to make several different kits for the X7 including Sig552, SCAR, and MG36 (many more as well check him out http://scenarioarms.com).  It comes standard with Tippmann's cyclone hopper which works well at feeding the paint and keeping up with the basic, response trigger, and egrip.  It can be a bit of an air hog with a R/T and the cyclone feed, but overall good gas consumption per shot.  This marker is great for the milsim player!  Lets hear what our fellow Reapers have to say about it:

I'm right with you. I have enjoyed my X-7 since the day I brought it home. It's quite a sight to behold right out of the box. This marker oozes that Mil-Sim vibe. Tippmann has taken everything about the A-5 and upped the anny.  As good as it looks out of the box the X-7 begs to be modded and the choices are endless. This marker can be made to look like just about any assualt rifle, sniper rifle, etc. Wanta G-36 no problem. Want an AK-47, no problem. The choices forforegrips, mags, stocks, barrels, sights makes my head spin.  Also, this marker is solid. I have personally fell, slammed my marker first into the ground and it just kept on ticking like nothing happened.  Built to last.  I've only had 1 problem with the Tippmann e-grip and Tippmann's phone support was quick to recognize the problem and promptly sent me a new board.  All in all I'm pleased w/ my X-7 purchase and would recommend it to anyone wanting that Mil-Sim look in their loadout.

VFORCE GRILLS

Posted by Reaper on April 21, 2009 at 7:37 PM Comments comments (4)

These are the best and easiest goggles I have ever owned in 16 years of playing.

How do you know you have a great set of goggles? I've thought I've had great goggles before. Then I wore my first set of VForce Grills.  The one word that comes to mind is comfort. If  you've never had that scary moment on the field where you think you forgot your goggles for a split second then you've never experienced true comfort. You will literally feel as if you don't have these goggles on.  Let's talk features. The Grills quick exchange system on their lenses are one of the most inovative perks to grace goggles. But they didn't stop there.  Have any of you ever had goggles you loved but eventually the foam either wore out or became nasty. With the Grills all you need to do is quickly pop out the foam with a brand new one. You can even do this between games if yours get wet.  As anyone can see, I highly recommend these goggles.

I would have to agree with Reaper. They provide excellent field ofvision, hardly ever fog, scratch resistant lenses and are extremelycomfortable. There were some points during the last game I played whereI forgot I even had them on until I got shot in the face, and I'm gladthey were there! I recommend them to anyone, great product!
