Radios

Posted by Shadowfox Shadow Raptor Squad at 11:34 PM on March 04, 2010 Comments comments (2)

At Bearclaw I had the opportunity to try out the new 9680SAME Motorola radios our squad bought, and I must say they worked very well.  I was able to keep contact with our XO Wildthing all day even though they were using a different Motorola and communicate with Zero and Spectre whenever I wanted using the twin to the one I carried.  At $62.00 for 2 of them it's a great deal.  This could be another option to the radio question.  I went with these radios after much research on the web and corresponding with several teams that use them including a few that used them while in the general position.  1 set of batteries using them all weekend is not bad either.  It really does not matter to me whether we go with the TriSquare of something like these but it's my opinion we need to choose somehting and begin working with them.  There is a skill to learn in using radios but it really does give you a great advantage.

Rap4 T68 Bravo

OK guys got my Bravo today, first of all its solid, no crappy plastic here. I love this gun so far, it looks like my AR15 but shorter, its perfect for CQB  the size is great for that, the rails are metal and fit my accesories well. My only thing is the trigger pull its pretty heavy pull but considering you have 18 shots that may be a good thing anyway the electro triggers have spoiled me. for 250 bucks i recommend this gun for anyone that wants a limited ammo gun, the clip seems solid and ejects well for righties sorry lefties this gun is set up just like the AR 15, now i know why the military likes to use these, muscle memory. So if you are looking for a clip fed marker for under 300 get this gun.

BT modified Ripclip and tm15 adapter by flasc

Posted by reaper at 07:58 PM on January 19, 2010 Comments comments (0)

Ok my Ripclip and adapter came in today, great cause i broke the elbow off my Tm15 Saturday, but thats another story. Well taking the old screws and nuts off the ripclip is a job in itself, there epoxied in, so after that fiasco, i got the adapter that i ordred from flasc and began to mount my ripclip on my gun, when they say there is a gap for the tm15 they are not kidding, there is a gap of a half inch between the adapter and gun just enough to be shot in and take out your hopper by a paintball, I do not recommend this adapter for the Tm15 i dont know about the 7,  i will look at that when i get my old one back, This fits the Tm7 well, but for the money get a dye rotor, for the tm15 not the ripclip to much hassle and to much chance of getting took out a game by the gap in between.

TriSquare eXRS 300

Posted by GRGhost at 03:35 PM on January 03, 2010 Comments comments (1)

I just recently obtained two TriSquare eXRS300 radios.  I bought a double pack and opened them up.  The package contained:

  • 2 TSX300 Radios
  • 1 Dual Desktop Charger
  • 2 NiMH Rechargeable
  • Battery Packs
  • AC Adapter
  • 2 VOX/PTT Headsets

Right away I charged the radios excited to see what they had to offer.  I read the manual and let the radios fully charge.  After I got them out of the charger and turned them on to test the transmissions one radio would not transmit.  I checked all the functions and features and nothing worked.  The second radio seemed to be working ok but I couldn't fully tell without a radio to transmit to.  I emailed TriSquare's service department and an hour later I got a reply stating there must be something wrong with the radio and to provide my address and they would send me another one.  I did just that, I sent them my shipping address and proof of purchase.  An hour after that email I got a reply that my replacement radio was in the mail.  To my surprise within 3 business days I had my replacement radio and let me tell you they work great!

Everything that the company says these radios will do, they do.  I haven't had a chance to test them in the field just yet but around the home they have worked beautifully.  Full text message support, private/group channels work great, and it is the same size as my motorolla talk-abouts so my radio pouch won't take a beating to get this new radio in it.  Once we get a chance to try them in the field I think we may need to pick some of these up for larger games to have secure communications.

Mobsters 2009 @ Ft Knox Paintball

Posted by reaper at 02:41 PM on December 14, 2009 Comments comments (0)

Well all i can say was that Mobsters 2009 at Ft Knox paintball was my favorite game of the year, the field is awsome, and Payroll does a good job with his games.  This was the Reapers first game there and wont be the last we made it to command and conquer and will be making two more in 2010, the Command and conquer in April and the Spaceballs game or Mobsters 2. This field is well run and has alot to choose from old west towns, to area 51.  The Reapers played hard for Tyronis of Brutal Anquish and he awarded us with best team for the green side, thanks for that Tyronis. So we have big shoes to fill so lets see if we can get best team again in 2010.

BT TM15

Posted by reaper at 02:31 PM on December 14, 2009 Comments comments (2)

THE BT TM15 is a impressive marker right out of the box with its light magnesium alloy body and full rail system to mount all your tactical goodies on, plus the quiteness of this gun is unreal.  The selecter switch seems solid and the modes are awsome like the ramping mode is very fast. Its also a accurate marker with dead on flip up sights and very well balanced.  The light wieght body is about the weight of a TM7 but metal and the clip holds a spare battery as well as a tool kit. I give this marker 4 stars, 4 because i havnt tested it out on the battlefield but if its as realiable as the TM7 it will definetly get 5 stars. a must buy for the milsim player.

Reapers response

As a lot of you guys are fairly new to the scenario side of the sport, I thought I would lend my experience to help you have a good time on the paintball field, so if any of you have questions just let me know and I will help the best I can. My first suggestion is to start a paintball checking account at your bank, this will help out a lot to get you prepared for scenario games. just put 10 bucks a week in there and in no time you will be ready for the season and not have too worry about having the cash to play. plus you can use your debit card for preregistration and equipment you need.

On sunday July 12th, 2009 the Grim Reapers went to Red Dragon Paintball in Hamersville, OH to play in their Hatfield and McCoy game.  We were on the Hatfield side and had a tough fight all day, eventually losing to those stupid McCoy's but we got a few laughs and one more in the raffle then them ; You may have one the battle but we won the raffle!

Here are our team's thoughts on the field and the game:
